For lovers of old furniture or designer furniture, damage represents a considerable impairment. If the beloved object has been damaged by water, fire or transport, this could be a case for private liability insurance, household insurance or a separate antiques insurance. The following steps will help you to determine the best course of action so that the repair or restoration can be carried out by us without any inconvenient "side effects".
Would you like your insurance company to send you a quotation for
For all these restoration and conservation measures, your old pieces of furniture and wooden objects are in the right hands with the experienced certified restorers at ZRW Berlin.
If you would like to commission a wood/furniture restoration through your insurance company, we usually proceed in 6 steps:
First of all, it must be clarified whether the damage is fully covered by the insured person's own personal liability, household contents insurance or a separately concluded antiques insurance policy. This can be clarified in the first step by sending an enquiry to the insurance company and describing the circumstances.
If the damage falls within the scope of the insurance, the costs of 150.00 Euros (net) for the preparation of the quotation and the furniture restoration will be covered by the insurance. Since the preparation of the offer already involves costs, these costs must also be claimed from the insurance company. In order to speed up the administrative process, the insurance company can sign a certificate for direct settlement in this context. The wording "In the event of direct settlement with my insurance company, I assign my claims to the company 'Zentrale Restaurierungswerkstatt Berlin'" is completely sufficient.
If the insurance company does not cover the damage or only covers part of it, you as the client must bear the costs of the restoration yourself. Exceptions are possible in individual cases, but these must be discussed individually.
As part of our callback, we always arrange an on-site inspection of the object at your premises. Photos or descriptions alone are not sufficient to realistically estimate the restoration costs.
Philipp Westebbe, a qualified restorer (Univ.) and carpenter and owner of ZRW Berlin, will be happy to visit you in Berlin and Brandenburg to personally inspect your furniture or object in need of restoration.

The aim of the on-site visit is
Together with you, the necessary measures and the scope of the restoration work will be agreed. The visit and the detailed assessment of your furniture or furnishings in need of restoration are, of course, not binding.
After the full examination and the individual coordination in the consultation, you will receive a binding offer from us, which you submit to your insurance company. In the following, the insurance company will check the offer and give you a recommendation. If the costs are covered by the insurance company, you can commission the Central Restoration Workshop Berlin with the wood or furniture restoration of the water, transport or fire damage.
On the agreed date, we will collect your furniture or wooden object professionally within Berlin or Brandenburg. We guarantee safe transport to our specialist workshop for furniture restoration in Berlin. Smaller pieces of furniture and wooden objects can also be transported personally to our central restoration workshop in Berlin if you wish. We can, of course, work directly on your premises on used wood and restore wooden room furnishings - for example on parquet, wooden floors, wall panelling, wooden ceilings and cultural monuments.
To save you further work, ZRW Berlin can submit the invoice to the insurance company after the restoration and settle the order directly. For this purpose, as already mentioned, a waiver/withdrawal declaration must be signed by you to enable direct billing.
Alternatively, the quotation is signed by you and you settle the costs of 150.00 Euro (net) for the quotation as well as the furniture restoration with your insurance company yourself.
What applies to restoration enquiries for individual wooden objects and pieces of furniture applies even more to large-scale projects: after your enquiry, we will contact you immediately to arrange an appointment for an examination of the findings on your premises. On the basis of this examination, we develop an individually sensible conservation or restoration concept and prepare a comprehensive, if necessary, long-term calculation.
Our entire team of experienced, passionate wood and furniture restorers at the Central Restoration Workshop Berlin is looking forward to your enquiry and getting to know you personally at an on-site appointment.
