Memberships
The Association of Conservators (VDR) is the nationwide professional association for qualified conservators in Germany. As a professional advocacy group, it is consistently committed to the preservation, protection, and proper conservation of art and cultural heritage. Its members are committed to high ethical standards and professional expertise, guided by international guidelines such as the Venice Charter, and advocate for qualified restoration practices that respect historical, material, and aesthetic values.
The VDR promotes professional networking, continuing education, and knowledge exchange among its approximately 3,000 members from all fields of restoration, and offers a wide range of continuing education programs, conferences, and working groups through its specialized, regional, and interest groups. In addition, the association serves as a point of contact for policymakers, researchers, educators, and the general public on all matters related to conservation and restoration, and is actively involved both nationally and internationally.
Through its work, the VDR helps preserve cultural heritage for future generations, raise public awareness of the importance of the restoration profession, and ensure the quality of restoration services.
